People who haven't seen Google Friend Connect before may be a be a little perplexed as to how to set up their GFC profile . Here's how to go about it: A virgin Friend Connect profile looks like the image to the right ....But it can be set up to contain a wealth of information if you know how. To edit your profile click the "Settings" link; shown here in the small login gadget. You can also find the settings link in any "members" gadget and the "canvas page" which you can get to by clicking the Clicking the "settings" link opens the GFC settings pop up window as shown by the image below. ![]() Below is the same image with markers pointing to different aspects of the settings window. ![]() 1. Already have a profile on the web? GFC lets you associate a profile you already have from a few different providers. Use this link to change the profile GFC shows. 2. In this area your profile information is displayed. You can edit your profile from here. 3. Here you can see the sites you have joined or are "following" using GFC. You can "unjoin" the sites from this link too. 4. From this link you can manage friends (contacts) you have made on Google friend connect. 5. Use this link to "unjoin" or end your relationship with the current site. 6. From here you can change the visibility settings for the GFC you are viewing (the site on which you clicked the settings link). 7. This line shows the networks you have associated with GFC. Associating other networks enables you to do things like invite your friends from that network to join the site directly from the "invite" link (see the small login gadget image near the top of the page), and also to show your GFC activity back on your other networks. Oooo coolio! Facebook were originally holding hands with everybody else, but had some issues and left the OpenSocial party shortly before release. Booo Facebook! Hopefully they will rejoin the party soon. 8. Tick this box to show your activity from the GFC site you are logged into in your GFC activity stream. Note that doing so will show any activity on the current site in your profile on ALL other GFC sites you have joined. Note: You can delete individual "activities" from showing in your GFC profile stream by viewing your own profile when logged in and clicking the "trash" icon after the activity you don't want to show, but this does not delete the activity itself (e.g. if it was a comment you left on a different GFC site for example). To do that you need to view the comment on the site where you left it and delete it there, That deletes the comment but leaves the "shadow" activity in your activity. So to completely remove a comment you would need to do both. 9. The "Done" button saves any changes you have made in the settings window, applies them and returns you to the site. 10. The "sign out" link is useful on GFC sites where they don't use the smaller login gadget. If you need and help, have some comments, or want to rate this page, you can do so here: click the + to expand. friends | view friends | write
